SOMATIC HEALING

“Soma” comes from the Greek word for the living body, our living experience in our body.
Deep levels of healing can be available to us when we include a somatic-based approach, intentionally tuning in and communicating with our body.

Most of us have had little to no guidance on how to have healthy relationships with our bodies.
Many of us have been taught to ignore our bodies. "Stop fidgeting" "stop crying" "you'll be fine.." "we don't talk about that" "Power through". It's also a well-known and common sign of trauma when we dissociate, go numb, or feel completely alienated from our body/parts of our body.
Some of us are hyper-aware of the sensations in our bodies, especially the painful ones, to the point where it's overwhelming and causes a lot of anxiety. Chronic pain and chronic illness can leave us feeling like we're trapped in a prison, robbing us from the ability to have a normal life
And some of us have been at war with our bodies for a very long time with thoughts like "not thin enough" "not strong enough" "not attractive enough" "not good enough" "not healthy enough""not worthy of love".
