LEARNING HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH OUR BODIES
Most of us have had little to no guidance on how to have healthy relationships with our bodies.
Many of us have been taught to ignore our bodies. "Stop fidgeting" "stop crying" "you'll be fine.." "we don't talk about that" "Power through". It's also a wellknown and common sign of trauma when we dissociate, go numb, or feel completely alienated from our body/parts of our body.
Some of us are hyper-aware of the sensations in our bodies, especially the painful ones, to the point where it's overwhelming and causes a lot of anxiety. Chronic pain and chronic illness can leave us feeling like we're trapped in a prison, robbing us from the ability to have a normal life.

And some of us have been at war with our bodies for a very long time with thoughts like "not thin enough" "not strong enough" "not attractive enough" "not good enough" "not healthy enough""not worthy of love".

Somatic-based practices cover a large range of different techniques and methods. But they all share a common goal. To help us heal through and with our body.

Somatic practices can help us
-process emotions
-release trauma stored in our bodies
-understand the messages our bodies are trying to tell us
-intentionally communicate with our bodies
-learn how to see and value our bodies as incredible vessels for our consciousness that are worthy of our love and attention no matter what condition they're in.
